The 2D ninja action platformer is a prequel to Shadow Gangs, with detailed pixel art, arcade combat and two-player local co-op. Players choose Dan or Monika and fight to rescue captive ninjas from the Shadow Gangs. Shurikens, close combat and ninja magic form the core of combat. Transformations bring a machine gun and katana into the fight, while local co-op lets both heroes battle together. The game has 43 levels in total, including boss levels, two bonus levels and the tutorial. Six challenging bosses and six massive mini-bosses stand between the heroes and their goal, across cities, industrial areas, forests, castles and temple gardens. Players can choose an Arcade, Branching or Full campaign. Developed with Neo Geo hardware at its heart, Shadow Gangs Zero carries its arcade roots into a Steam version with enhanced visual effects, additional environmental detail and spatialised sound.
